No Do-Over for Miss NevadaThis time, no one’s playing the Trump card.
Pageant officials said Friday that former Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees, who was dethroned last week after some pre-title racy photos surfaced on the Internet, will not have a second shot at the crown.
“The Miss Universe Organization has thoroughly considered the request of Ms. Katie Rees to be reinstated as Miss Nevada USA 2007,” organization president Paula Shugart said in a statement, a day after co-owner Donald Trump told Extra that he was taking another look at his colleagues’ decision.
Trump, of course, was instrumental in the choice to give Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner another go-round after the then-20-year-old was spotted drinkingand reportedly smooching Miss Teen USA Katie Blairat a New York nightspot. The duo were also accused of sneaking men into their Trump Place apartment.
A Private Goodbye to James BrownJames Brown always knew how to attract a crowd.
A day after thousands of mourning fans lined up to view the Godfather of Soul’s body at Harlem’s Apollo Theater, about 400 people showed up to pay their respects Friday during a private funeral service held in North Augusta, South Carolina.
Rev. Al Sharpton, who will also preside over a public memorial at the James Brown Arena in Augusta, Georgia, on Saturday at 1 p.m., shared with the family and friends gathered at Carpentersville Baptist Church a memory he had about the late singer’s faith in a higher power.
“I was born with nothing,” Sharpton recalled Brown saying. “Nobody wanted me. Now heads of state ask me to come to their house for dinner. I used to pick cotton, and now I have the finest fabrics made for me.
“God brought me from nowhere, and when you think about where He has brought me, I can’t be cool. I’ve got to scream!”
One Tree’s Chad and Sophia Officially OverOne branch of the “One Tree Hill” family has officially been severed, making way for another to spring up in its place.

Britney Too Toxic for Fan ShrineIs Britney Spears’ lack of undies seriously undermining her fan base?
Ruben Garay, the webmaster of World of Britney (worldofbritney.com) and arguably her biggest devotee, has announced plans to shut down the six-year-old site in the wake of the “Toxic” singer’s recent run of questionable behavior.
“As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is [World of Britney],” Garay writes.
“I believe Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least). No matter what anyone thinks or how they may disagree, it’s very hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going.”
The Web shrine, which bears the motto “Dream, Create, Deliver, Inspire” and has meticulously chronicled all things Spears for the better part of the millennium, will continue to run until Jan. 31.
